Greensboro City Council Saves $25,000 Not Giving TREBIC Lobbyist Contract Has Been Pulled

The City of Greensboro did the right thing and pulled this item from the city council meeting on
 3-19-2013

32. Resolution authorizing contract between the City of Greensboro and TREBIC (Triad Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition) to assist with the Jordan Lake Rules legislation.

(Council District: all) (roll call vote) (Attachment # 32 to Councilmembers)

This issue was talked about a few weeks ago in this blog post titled

$25,000 Greensboro Contract with Unofficial now Official Lobbyist Marlene Sanford President of the Most Powerful Lobbyist Group in the Triad. What a Waste of Taxpayers Money!

Hopefully we can also work on the stacked decks that TREBIC likes to do on plenty of boards and commissons  for example with a blog post titled "RUCO with Stacked Deck on Board from Lobbyist Group Wants State Law To Help Their Cause " CLICKHERE

I am sorry if you cannot find a link to a Greensboro News and Record article in a blog post on triadwatch from the past because they totally wiped out their links when they updated their web site.

Did Yes Weekly's Jordan Green just let Robbie off the hook for RUCO because he appears to be the lesser evil?

"Ms. Dellinger [Koury] moved to eliminate 2% sampling on multifamily property,
seconded by Mr. Sims.

The vote was tied 6-6.

(Ayes: Dellinger, Nelson, Placentino, Chaney, Sims, Perkins.

Nays: Akin, Rotruck, Cannon, Giles, Tuck, Smith.)

The vote died due to lack of a majority."

that was a forerunner to the Triad Real Estate and Building Industries Coalition,

A Greensboro Election Linkfest I Emailed to Several Members of North Carolina's Press: Perkins, Jordan Green, Matheny, Allen Johnson, TREBIC, Cardes Brown, John Hammer, Amanda Lehmert, Guarino and Bev Perdue

If Robbie Perkins supported RUCO,
why would he vote to eliminate sampling inspections
of multifamily properties?

Nancy Vaughan on HB 554 on Residential Building Inspections: "I found it interesting that the bill has no sponsors... So far all Senate bills have sponsors. The House seems to be changing the rules. I don’t like it. I’d like to know who is proposing new legislation."

I found it interesting that the bill has no sponsors.

I believe this is something new that this legislature has instituted.

So far all Senate bills have sponsors.

The House seems to be changing the rules.

I don’t like it.

I’d like to know who is proposing new legislation.

Dump The Developer Party on Greensboro City Council Has A Candidate in District #3

It seems like Greensboro City Council Member Zack Matheny District #3 has some competition in the Greensboro City Council Election come fall .Ed Cone a posted this morning CLICKHERE .

George Hartzman is a financial advisor with Wells Fargo Financial. Here is what his bio reads:

Since 2000, George Hartzman has taught CPE concerning a philosophy called Think. George is the author of Think, What To Do Now, Think, Retirement Plan Edition, Fiduciary Guide, and Think, Investor Guide, Life Strategy.

Mr. Hartzman has worked in the financial services industry as a financial advisor, portfolio manager, and economist for 15 years. He holds degrees in communications, philosophy, and public relations from Frostburg State University.

He also has a book on amazon titled"Questions for America; An Economic, Geopolitical, Philosophical Almanac (Spiral-bound)" CLICKHERE with reviews of the book CLICKHERE .

To get to his web site CLICKHERE , it seems to me there needs to be some tweaking to this site and to separate a few things that might not pass the campaign laws of this state.

It is time to get rid of the developer influence on the Greensboro City Council and to start working for the people not the special interest or the melderec con simkins influence as a good friend will call them . Filing season starts in July and if you want to see about all the Greensboro City Council web sites please check out the left hand side of blog for a complete list of candidates and web sites.

Greensboro Based North Carolina Association of Realtors Has Some Explaining To Do

Greensboro based North Carolina Association of Realtors click here will have to do some explaining to the North Carolina Board of Elections. As reported today by the News and Observer Under the Dome click here .

One of the points of contention is the Realtors PAC supporting ballot intiatives, but if you can see from their web site the Realtors PAC has this to say,

The North Carolina REALTORS® Political Action Committee (“NC RPAC”) is a non-partisan committee organized for the specific purpose of raising funds to support political candidates of all parties at the local, state and federal levels of government. We take great pride in the fact that NC RPAC consistently is the No. 1 business PAC in the state! It is essential that we are able to support the candidates that will fight for issues important to us when elected. Your RPAC contributions are the key to our being able to make a difference in the Legislature

As you can see there isn't one mention of supporting ballot intiatives for their PAC only candidates.

Also on Tuesday July 22, 2008, it seems like a mini upheavel with some of the realtors of this state because the N.C. Realtors are demanding more money for dues in part because their Issues Mobilization Fund was depleted down to $263,000 because of the land transfer tax ballots in 19 counties which was defeated all over this state, Greensboro News and Record AP story on this issue click here .

It will be interesting to see what the North Carolina Board of Elections has to say about this.

UPDATE :
There is a site dedicated to the overreaching power of the North Carolina Association of Realtors,

CLICKHERE

It is called Stop the N C Home Ticks

This was there initial disclosure and as you can see it was a rush job to start this Political Action Committee to hand out money to the Greensboro City Council. Some of the general requirements state that in order for political action committees to support or oppose candidates in North Carolina, they must first register with the appropriate board of elections office. As you can see they sent their letter to the state on 10-24-07 well after they started giving out money to the candidates.

Another point is that for a political committee supporting or opposing candidates within a single county or municipality, organization would take place at the county board of elections office. For political committees (PAC's) supporting or opposing 1 candidates for statewide office or 2 candidates in more than one county or 3 a candidate in a district that has more than one county , organization would take place at the Campaign Finance Office of the State Board of Election.

As you can see North Carolinians for Leadership in Government has only given to local politicians so the registration should have been made at the Guilford County Board of Elections not the state.

Here are the results for the year end semi annual report

As you can see that the only Greensboro City Council members who didn't get any money from this PAC were Mike Barber, and Mary Rakestraw.

They haven't filled out a second quarter form but the recipients from the second quarter of the North Carolinians for Leadership in Government are 2 at large Guilford County Commissioners .

Expenditures
Paul Gibson (D) 5-2-08 for $1,000
Kirk Perkins (D) 5-6-08 for $1,000

As you can see this PAC should only be registered in Guilford County not the state. There are plenty of other PAC's that will be getting a closer look at for example Triad Good Government PAC, SIMKINS PAC, and other groups and organizations in this area. This is just the start of looking into campaign contributions and Political Action Committee's of local politicians. If you would like to look at the different campaign contributions on the main page of TRIADWATCH there are links in the left hand side of site titled "Look up campaign contributions.Have a great day.
