Let's not forget the African American Leadership of Greensboro and Guilford County that may have prevented: Thomasville apartment fire under investigation

"The fire department is investigating an afternoon apartment fire at 300 C James Ave.

Crews were called to the apartments around 2:30 p.m., Sunday, and left by 5:15 p.m.

There were no injuries, according to police and fire reports."

When will the African American political leadership
of Greensboro and Guilford County
acknowledge they betrayed their own people
for letting Robbie and friends at TREBIC kill RUCO?

What will the new City of Greensboro manager suggest?

Will that she was the lobbyist for the Greensboro Parnership,
which also means Downtown Greensboro Inc. do the right thing,
or shall we all wait untill some have the blood of dead renters on thier hands?

Let's not not understand how and why Zack Matheny injected himself into the curfew debate and who's on what side: Ed Wolverton and Milton Kern on "Safety," in Downtown Greensboro

"Ed Wolverton, president of Downtown Greensboro Inc.,
worked with Matheny on the proposals.

“A community may say they want the license for any nightclub
that stays open after 11 p.m. or maybe 12 a.m.” ...Wolverton said.

Wolverton said the teen curfew proposal is related to two incidents last summer
when a club had a “teen night” that led to fighting in a parking lot.

Should two incidents = restrictions for all teens?

Milton Kern...was another business leader who helped craft the proposals.

“The nightclub owners have to understand
they have to be responsible business people
and not have a 'shoot ’em up,’ wild night life,” Kern said.

Didn't the N Club already voluntarily shut down?

How can this not be about keeping young black youth
who live very near downtown Greensboro being relatively unwelcome
by some who may have seemed what some could consider somewhat bigoted like?

Would any others who attended what appeared to be a meeting of "Stakeholders"
after the N Club event
like to concur as to some of the topics of conversation
at what may have been the Empire Room?

Who was there?

If most of our local print media is aware of what most don't,
why wouldn't they bother filling everyone else in?

North Carolina Amendment One: Shame on us

If some of what will, can, can’t or won’t change,
you may or may not be who you think you’ll be.

Could you not really know some of what you think you know?

Egotism is the anesthetic that dulls the pain of stupidity.

Frank Leahy

Some of what you know, you don’t know you know.

What you don’t know you don’t know is more than you think.

When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant
I could hardly stand to have the old man around.

But when I got to be 21,
I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years.

Mark Twain

If what you think effects what you do,
which effects what you and others think afterwards,
and what others do effects what you think, which effects etc…,
should think before do get farther faster with less risk,
than do before think?

What others think was, is and may, might not be what you do.

A great many people think they are thinking
when they are really rearranging their prejudices.

Edward R. Murrow

If thought is both logical and emotional,
what you do is too.

You didn’t, don’t or will think everything you could,
should or shouldn’t.

Of what you think did, didn’t or is,
some are more likely than others.

If some falsely told they were to receive more pain than they actually did
described more than administered,
and others given more pain than led to expect thought it was less,
can some of what you believe to be true, be true to you,
until you think otherwise?

You’ll benefit from contributed causes,
or be deterred by imposed effects.

If not thinking isn’t,
and it’s not about what could’ve been or what may someday,
is it about what you think and do now?

If life needs sustenance and a temperate climate, is want everything else?

Is attachment suffering
and/or can suffering be attachment to nothing?

Fill your bowl to the brim and it will spill,
keep sharpening your knife and it will blunt,
chase after money and security and your heart will never unclench,
care about people's approval and you will be their prisoner.

Tao Te Ching

Are you as happy as you think?

Does what you think determine how you feel?

We are never so happy nor so unhappy as we imagine.

La Rochefoucauld

If positive thought outperforms negative,
can faith in open doors be better than fearing them closed?

Is feeling 44 years young better than 44 years old?

Does possession = Identity?

Are those who fail as unhappy as feared?

Are those who achieve as happy as expected?

Lives based on having are less free
than lives based either on doing or on being.

William James

Could living for the moment
be the only way to live happily ever after?

Do you already have everything you want,
if you choose to think so?

If you think you need less, is it easier to take care of?

Can want be eliminating unneeded?

If non-material want can provide a high quality of life,
while material want doesn’t necessarily create happiness,
is it better to be miserable with a high standard of living
than unhappy and poor?

People who have what they want
are fond of telling people who haven't what they want,
that they really don't want it.

Ogden Nash

Should long term need be sacrificed for short term want?

Can threatened need or want alter thought?

If want isn’t how much but how happy,
can Wealth = Happiness?

Kieth Brown "Mayor Perkins Recusals Part #1 and Past Problems with the New GTCC Water and Sewer off of Highway 68"

"Greensboro City Council Meeting December 13, 2011

34. Resolution approving bid in the amount of $1,966,989.17 and authorizing Contract No. 2009-021 with J. R. Lynch & Sons, Inc. for the Greensboro Technical Community College (GTCC) General Water and Sewer Project. (Council District: n/a) (roll call vote) (Attachment #34 to Councilmembers)

Water & Sewer

The property that Mayor Perkins owns in front of the new GTCC buildings off of Highway 68 North is titled leabourne 68 llc .

In the video above we have the mayor saying "I own property that could be effected by this item".

Water & Sewer for Robbie's newly zoned property?

No Mayor Perkins you own property that is directly in front of the said property that is getting water and sewer so in reality your "could be" should have said "will be" effected and am sure that when you bought the property knowing full and well that this property was right in the way of providing water and sewer to the GTCC campus.

Here is what was written a few years ago about this same property and remember that Councilman Zack Matheny recused himself from this vote but at the December 13, 2011 vote on this item he did not recuse himself like he did in past on this issue.

Highway 68 North + Anonymous Investors + Plus Zack and Robbie= Ethical Problems

Also Jordan Green from Yes! Weekly also had a post titled Highway 68 Shopping Center Receives Approval

in this article Jordan writes this:

"commercial and residential future of the NC Highway 68 corridor

near the new GTCC aviation campus took shape on Sept. 10
when the Guilford Planning Board unanimously approved a request
by a group of anonymous investors.

The decision rezones 51 acres
from allow a shopping center and housing development
to be built on what is presently a combination of woodland and pasture.

The request was opposed by about a dozen neighboring residents
who lamented that the rural character of their community would be lost,
and that they were being out-maneuvered by powerful developers
with the deep pockets to secure expensive legal help.

“This feels a lot like land speculation,” said Mary Fabrizio, an opponent from nearby Colfax.

“It stinks because two of the investors are sitting on the Greensboro City Council.”

At-large Councilman Robbie Perkins and District 3 Councilman Zack Matheny
have abstained from a city council vote on the project
because of conflicts of interest.

Derek Allen, the lawyer with Brooks Pierce law firm
who argued the case before the planning board,
said that the two councilmen “had interest in groups that had interest in that property.”

The limited liability company interested in developing the property,
which is currently owned by WA Kennedy Jr.,
was organized in June by Jennifer C. Noble, a lawyer with Brooks Pierce.

The company’s registered agent is Stanhope Johnson,
a partner with NAI Piedmont Triad,
a commercial real estate company headed by Perkins."

It would be great for the citizens to know just who are these anonymous investors and to have Greensboro City Councilman Zack Matheny and Mayor Perkins come clean on this whole situation that he was a part of in regards to the land speculation game they both played off of Highway 68 .

Will we see any reporting from the local and weekly papers in regards to this situation or is it ok for sitting councilmembers to have anonymous investors for the public to not know about,  especially when we are talking about taxpayers monies going into building the infrastructure like water and sewer."

W. E. Heasley on Roy Carroll, Robbie Perkins, Zack Matheny and Jonathan L. Sangster?

"Although politicos have the final say-so
on bestowing taxpayer dollars upon economic rent seekers
it's worth one’s attention to look at those that facilitate rent seekers.

Those persons and entities that act as the broker
between rent seekers and politicos.

Those that help spend your taxpayer dollars
under the heading “economic incentives”
and not so incidentally spend those dollars upon themselves."

Greensboro Performance Arts Center pitch lie number two, three and four?

...on Dec. 1, the city retired all $56.4 million in debt
for coliseum complex improvements, some dating to 1991.

Don "the man" Patterson
GN&R

"In December 2011,
approximately $3.0 million in Coliseum Certificates of Participation
were retired (This included the final maturity on Arena Expansion debt issued in 1991.).

Wasn't it reported to be about $56.4 or $48 million in retired debt?

Should Robbie Perkins recuse himself from the Performing Arts Center project?

"This week, in the wake of Brown’s proposal, the Greensboro City Council voiced support for putting a bond referendum on the November ballot to fund such a project.

But it renews the question: Which location should the referendum support?

Ultimately, it’s an “either/or” question;
there won’t be two performing arts centers.

Notice the alternative close?

Saturday, January 21, 2012

Journalism Ethics: Should Amanda Lehmert use an "Alternative Close" to promote Greensboro's Performing Arts Center?

An alternative close
offers more than one alternative

The number of choices should be limited
between those supporting the questioner's ends:
two or three is preffered.

If there are too many alternatives,
including "No", or an undesired outcome of the salesperson,
the prospect may be faced with more complexity,
limiting the seller's ability to close.

"Coliseum advocates may have to work overtime
to convince city voters that the complex
needs a new $36 million performing arts center.

But first, they must contend with folks who support the idea
of a new theater but don’t want it built at the coliseum.

Why hasn't the Greensboro News & Record reported on the Craig Saperstein, Pillsbury Law lobbyist campaign contribution story?

Are the less informed easier to persuade than the more?

If white northern college students enlisted for voter registration drives,
only after murders of black civil rights volunteers
went relatively unreported by law enforcement and news organizations
is the Greensboro News & Record doing the same thing
only different?

I, George Hartzman, challenge two members of the leadership opposed to reopening the White Street Landfill to a public debate

I, George Hartzman, challenge two members of the leadership
opposed to reopening the White Street Landfill
to a public debate
in a venue of their choice,
with a moderator and debate rules of their choosing,
and on any other subject of their choice.

Two on one, time divided equally between three,
meaning George Hartzman will speak one third of the time
advocating for the landfill to be reopened,
while those who support the landfill remaining closed
will control the majority of the time,
the subject matter and the sequencing of rhetoric.

Greensboro City Council Member Zack Matheny Wants Citizens To Buy Tickets, But His Are Free, any Ethical ?

During the Greensboro City Council meeting on 1-4-2011, at the end of the agenda when each council member gets time to talk about anything they wish to, Councilman Zack Matheny invited everyone to come to some family events that were going on at the Greensboro Coliseum.

In the above embedded clip, Zach talks of if attending the Ringling Brothers Circus, then "ALL NON CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE TICKETS TO THIS EVENT".

Why did Zack Matheny have this to say about the circus?

It is because when Danny Thompson first was elected to council during their meeting last year, he said the following in the embedded clip.

"Free Tickets to the Circus Handed Out by Greensboro CIty Council Members, Is This Legal, Ethical or Conflict of Interest"

If you would like to see the post CLICKHERE

Then we have fellow TRIADWATCH blogger George Hartzman during a City council meeting exchange with Zack Matheny:

Here's another post titled "Part #2, Free Tickets at the Greensboro Coliseum, Did Sitting Council Member Get a Free Pass To The ACC Tournament? " CLICKHERE

Now we come full circle where a sitting councilman is admitting that he is getting free tickets to the circus and telling non council members that they have to buy their own tickets.

Does anybody see these free tickets for sitting council members as unethical?

Who is actually giving these tickets, and is it legal under state law?

Should freebees be reported?

How many other events are the sitting council members getting free tickets too that they are not telling us about?

If anyone is going to the coveted ACC Tournament this year, please inform the public of which sitting council members happen to be in audience, because it would be interesting to see if they paid the $400 or so dollars for a book to get into this tournament, or what other arrangments were made.

Free tickets to the Greensboro Coliseum to sitting council members needs to be off limits for plenty of reasons but it doesn't seem to bother our local politicians on this matter as seen from above.

Pornography, Porno, Porn, XXX in Greensboro, North Carolina

If pictures of women in tennis attire is pornographic,
should all Greensboro women’s tennis programs be cancelled?

Should all children in public school
be taught that evil is compatible with an omnipotent and benevolent God?

If some believe pictures of women and men in bathing suits is pornographic,
should public swimming pools will be closed?

Are members of a church more likely to give campaign contributions
to a "pious" Council Member who attends the same church,
after said church’s preacher gives a sermon on the dangers of pornography?

If pictures of women and men wearing dancing tights is pornographic,
should all publicly funded dance groups be disbanded?

If all men not wearing shirts in any pictures on the internet is pornographic…?

Should public schools should be segregated by sex?

Should dancing be prohibited?

Should Roman statues be covered?

If a Catholic Priest says it’s OK for him to touch you wherever he wants,
should you believe him?

Should public employees using phones with internet access
be denied access to pornographic web sites?

Should clergy who support political grandstanding
receive privileged access to Greensboro’s political and municipal executives?

Does the government always act in the majority’s best interests?

Should a married pregnant unemployed high school drop out
who knows the child will have AIDS and autism
have to receive permission from her husband to get an abortion
after being raped by her schizophrenic brother-in-law?

Should “abstinence-until-marriage” education
replace explicit sex-education programs,
school-based clinics, and the distribution of contraceptives in schools?

Should contraceptive measures for raped woman be outlawed?

What is the likelihood that the God of rectangle shaped people has four sides?

Should school curriculums teach Creationism,

Should morning prayers be instituted in public schools
and end with “in Jesus’ name we pray”?

Should Jewish children be prohibited from dating Christian children?

Can an atheist be superstitious?

Should no mosque on American soil
be within a mile of an elementary school?

Should religious and/or alternative sexual orientation
be a required disclosure on all public identification?

Are all Muslims terrorists?

Can a robot be one of God’s children,
and if so, is it OK to enslave intelligent machines?

Should all children be taught at the earliest ages

but not in hell?

Are all men who look for porn at the library child molesters?

Should special police in charge of monitoring moral behavior
be given the right to use corporal punishment on anyone under the age of 21?

Should elected lawmakers seek to avoid imposing their religious views
upon the communities in which they reside?

Should the United States of America officially declare war on Islam?

If the government arrests a citizen for pornography,
should the accused be publicly humiliated before trial,
unless they are related to or are good friends with a public official?

What do you believe that you can’t prove?

Are all women who look at porn at the library lesbians?

Are communities who lean towards religion infused government
more or less likely to pass religious based legislation
like alcohol prohibition, dancing, female submission, book burning,
what could be unnecessary pornography restrictions,
public school curriculums, abortion or homosexuality?

Why are weak governments and/or fringe political movements
more likely to embrace religion or nationalism
in times of economic and social instability
and/or when distractions appear helpful to bury other more important issues?

Should any man caught "sexually" looking at women in public libraries be removed?

Should all sexually active homeless persons within the city limits be removed?

Should all those of a religion other than those sanctioned by government,
wear an insignia stating their religion on their garments at all times in public?

Should anyone who disagrees with the will of a majority of a minority,
be prohibited in engaging in public discourse?

Greensboro City Council Member Zack Matheny Did Receive Free Tickets To Greensboro Coliseum Video Embedded

NOTE: if you see a blank screen above please click it on and the embedded video will show up,

During the November 9, 2010 Greensboro City Council meeting, fellow contributor to TRIADWATCH George Hartzman spoke to council members on a agenda item which turned into talking about them receiving free tickets to events at the Greensboro Coliseum. As you can see in the above embedded video we now have Greensboro City Council Member Zack Matheny on record telling everyone that he did receive free tickets to the Greensboro Coliseum.

This all started back February 20, 2010 with a post titled "Free Tickets to Coliseum Handed Out By Greensboro City Council Members, Is This Legal, Ethical or Conflict of Interest?" CLICKHERE .
This is where Greensboro City Council member Danny Thompson thanked fellow council members for letting them have their allotment of circus tickets for him to use.

Now this past week when George Hartzman asked the question again we have Zack Matheny go on record as saying he received and used the circus tickets free of charge . Will the local media talk about this issue probably not because everyone one of them are also on the free ticket trough with barter agreements from print, weekly newspapers and news 2. If you would like to see barter agreements with local businesses CLICKHERE  .

This is serious stuff where we have a local ABC General Manager getting fired for receiving free meals and tickets  but not any ramifications or policy changes when the Greensboro City Council members receives free tickets to events out at the Greensboro Coliseum. The Greensboro City Council on a regular basis votes on plenty of issues in regards to the Greensboro Coliseum and knowing that they get free tickets to events out at coliseum is completely unethical and should be abolished.

Time for a Reminder of Where You Can Place Political Sign Placement and Pictures of What Not To Do.

Greensboro City Signs 2008

It is time for a reminder of where you can place political signs in the triad area. Above you will see the regulations for the City of Greensboro and if you would like to see Guilford County, Jamestown and High Point CLICKHERE .

Greensboro City Council member Nancy Vaughan has some pictures of campaign signs that are in areas that are illegal here are a few of the pictures. As you will see these pictures were taken on plenty of places up and down battleground avenue with the last picture taken at the intersection of battleground and pisgah church road where there is a huge median that is owned by the City of Greensboro and the whole median is illegal to post signs on. It is time to take them down .

Greensboro City Council member Nancy Vaughan had this to say on Facebook,

I am stunned by the number of illegal election signs! It is illegal to place signs in traffic medians or traffic islands. All Don Vaughan, NC Senate signs are placed with the landowners permission. If you see one of Don's signs in an illegal location you have our permission to take it down. I challenge other candid...ates to say the same!! If you can't follow the law how can we trust you to make the law?

These were taken on a small section of Battleground Avenue this morning. I can only imagine what the rest of the district looks like. I challenge people to hold "their" people ("their" team) accountable. When Don sees that one of his signs ...has been put up illegally he takes it down (and the only way that can occur is if it is one of the many that we've had to replace that have been "stolen" from private property and put up somewhere else). Candidates need to train their volunteers to do the right thing. To me, it is a question of integrity and it's the law."

There are a  lot of people who just don't care about these rules and regulations . This issue has been going on for a long time with little enforcement but i think there needs to be a NEW RULE . The new rule would be that every sign will have a section of it where the owner of the property will put his address on the sign along with his signature on each sign in the owners property. If there isn't a signature along with the exact address for the sign then the sign is illegal and needs to go. Read the sign regulations and have a great campaign.
