Was Robbie Perkins asked not to attend "the Laughlin Memorial United Methodist Church on Monday night to hear former Mayor Keith Holliday"?

If they can get you asking the wrong questions,
they don't have to worry about answers.

Thomas Pynchon
.
Why would who want Robbie to not attend a public meeting
concerning not reopening the White Street Landfill,
an issue Mr. Perkins advocates for keeping closed?

…the earth belongs to each of these generations during its course,
fully and in its own right.
.
The second generation receives it clearof the debts and incumbrances of the first,
the third of the second, and so on.
.
For if the first could charge it with a debt,
then the earth would belong to the dead and not to the living generation.
.
Then, no generation can contract debts greater than may be paid
during the course of its own existence.

I asked Perkins about this. He said, he doesn't need anyone to tell him not to go to a meeting.

He said he and Holliday met to talk over the history of the landfill stuff. Perkins said he already had plans to attend a Northeast Concerned Citizens meeting later in the week, so he saw no need to attend Monday's meeting.
