Greensboro City Council Member Robbie Perkins and Local Developer Roy Carroll are Ethically Challenged
As you can see by this picture it seems that Greensboro City Council Member Robbie Perkins has struck up a relationship with local developer Roy Carroll who is building a new downtown high rise called Center Pointe.
Sweeping new ethics laws should limit the influence of developers and other special interests on city and county governments as witnessed by Roy Carroll and his Political Action Committee called North Carolinians for Leadership in Government, here is a list of the lucky local politician recipients of Developer Roy Carroll's Political Action Committee this past year ;

It seems strange that this PAC gave checks out to all candidates on the same day. Just an observation.
New laws should dramatically limit campaign contributions and beef up disclosure requirements from Developers and local politicians in this State of North Carolina especially in Guilford County where many local politicians are so ethically challenged or wouldn't know a conflict of interest if it hit them over the head.
Let's hope our State Representatives will bring ethics from the state level to the local level into meaningful laws to disclose financial relationships like the one between Greensboro City Council Member Robbie Perkins and local Developer Roy Carroll. Also if Roy Carroll ever has a zoning case before the Greensboro City Council that Robbie Perkins will recuse himself from those cases.

The thing that kills me about Robbie is he could pull all the shenanigans quite legally were he not an elected official. Derek Allen could still rep his zoning interests. I guess he figures with only 20% voting, no one cares. And you just know that despite your valiant efforts, he will be our next Mayor.
Maybe just maybe there could be a few very viable candidates to have a "Dump The Developer Party" on the Greensboro City Council. Only time will tell and coalition's formed to make a difference in the Triad.
How did Roy get $2 million dollars from the city council to develop Centre Point, while at the same city council meeting they did not approve the request for additional funding by the Greensboro Police Department to provide additional police officers for downtown.
That $2 million paid for his two story penthouse in Centre Point.
Greensboro needs to see what Roy is about.
there is a lot of Roy Carroll and the Greensboro City council that needs to be looked at and the relationship between him and robbie perkins is point #1. THen as you said they approve the incentives for him and not fund the police department.
This fall will be a interesting Greensboro City Council election. There is already a groundswell of support to get rid of all the TREBIC stinch on city council and what a better way then to vote all of them out of office.
We will see.
