"Summerfield gets new bakery"

"Folks in Summer field can get a taste of something sweet
to go along with their Carolina Coffee roasted java at Godino’s Bakery
(1007-A N.C. 150 West, Summerfield; 298-7425; http://godinosbakery.com).

Paul Godino, and his wife Mary Ann,
opened the bakery in the space formerly occupied by Subway
at a strip center at the intersection of N.C. 150 and Lake Brandt Road.

Godino, an alumnus of the Culinary Institute of America,
has been in the restaurant industry for 30 years
and 20 years as a baker and pastry chef.

Godino’s offers a daily selection of brownies, muffins, cinnamon rolls and twists,
crumbcake, Danish, lemon bars, scones, feta spinach turnover and cream-filled cupcakes.

When in season, local fruit goes into items like strawberry puffs and tarts and even gelato.

Godino, an experienced gelato maker, offers several flavors such as raspberry,
lemon, banana chocolate, vanilla and peach made from fruit from regional growers.

Godino says he plans to set up a gelato cart
at all home games for Northern Guilford High School this fall.

The shop also offers layered gelato cakes by the whole or by the slice.

Gelato cakes, along with other cakes, can be custom ordered.

Godino makes his dough fresh daily
and uses Homeland Creamery milk in all of the bakery’s dairy products.

The shop also offers confections like chocolate boxes
that can be filled with truffles or, in some cases, a more meaningful surprise.

The shop offers seating and wifi.

Hours are 7 a.m to 7 p.m. Monday through Tuesday, 7 a.m.-9 p.m.

Wednesday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday."
