If you haven’t read the News & Record’s editorial on RUCO, please do: A few not-online highlights

"RUCO has been a very obvious and measurable success…

RUCO is working…

It has succeeded without requiring additional staff and money…

Nancy Vaughan…would prefer now to keep it proactive…
“I want to keep the program…I want to make it better.”

Doing otherwise with a model initiative
whose record is so strong not only would be imprudent,
it would be downright foolish."

Vaughan has done this before. Despite her public assurances, she is at every task force meeting. The last time she said she'd changed her mind, a week later she questioned Rashad Young's reorg plan for city staff, postponing a RUCO decision. Clearly, the councilwoman cannot be taken at her word. RUCO proponents must not be persuaded by Vaughan's statements to let down their guard.

Nancy Vaughan has been captured by the developer community. Nothing she says in the N&R changes that fact.

it will be interesting to see how this discussion evolves in front of council or if it will be brought in front of them cause they have delayed this issue plenty.
