City of Greensboro Information Request emailed to the City of Greensboro Public Affairs Department, May 19, 2010

If the oversight authority of the War Memorial Commission has been curtailed, what was the Commission’s power to regulate Greensboro Coliseum Complex operations before any regulatory controls were rescinded, and what is the Commission’s role now?

In the last 12 months, what Greensboro Coliseum Complex advertizing was bartered for event admissions and other perquisites, what and how many tickets to what events were made available, and what were the comparable “face values” of the passes etc… available to the public?

What is the dollar amount of the gap between The City of Greensboro’s FY 2009/10 spending and FY 2010/11’s expected revenues?

I have been told that Matt Brown does not answer to the War Memorial Commission, they simply advise him. Apparently in his employment offer nearly 20 years ago, he was given exclusive rights and controls to the coliseum. He operates independent of any government controls.

As long as he keeps "certain" people happy, he has been allowed to operate under those conditions. Now that money is tight, his inability to play well with others is surfacing.

so matt pays off the greensboro news and record top execs with plenty of entertainment, and they shield the colesium from critism and do an occasional puff piece saying matt is the man.

awesome.

The board is useless.

they didn't vote to blow $90,000 plus on design for a $1,250,000 VIP lounge.

They didn't vote on the $100,000 plus for the ampetheater.

Is it a free tickets club?

this has got to be some kind of joke

Yo Rhino, you run a $1,000 ad per week for the colesium, and the colesium gives you $3,000 per week of tickets and passes.

probably carlilse club passes.

Great seats for Elton John.

All on the taxpayers dime.
