Dear Don Jud, Bryan School of Business & Economics, UNCG;

If Total Employment in Guilford County was 219,200 in September 2011,
and the unemployment rate was 11.1%
and Total Employment in Guilford County was 217,200 in September 2010,
with unemployment at 10.4%,
and 217,200 divided by 219,200 = .99, or about a 1% difference,
why did the unemployment rate rise by about 6.3%?

And the county won't say,

TEXAS-City Voters Overwhelmingly Approve Moving Public Notices out of Newspaper!!

TEXAS-City Voters Overwhelmingly Approve Moving Public Notices out of Newspaper!!

Submitted by FreePublic on 12 November 2011 - 5:53pm
The citizens of Pflugerville, Texas voted in 6 referenda which change their city charter to allow the publishing of public notices on line instead of in newspapers, the Pflugerville Pflag reported . The votes to change the charter all passed by over 75% saving the town useless expense in paying for notices in the newspaper. Certain notices will no longer be published in the newspaper. If an ordinance is passed that imposes a penalty or fine, the town no longer must post the notice in the newspaper. It may post it on a web site. Other ordinances that that grant, renew, extend or amend a public utility franchise.
Politicians are supposed to represent the people. Yet how come when the same issues are placed before our elected officials , the results are opposite of when those same votes are put before the people for a referendum? Elected officials are scared to take on the newspapers. We all wonder why our politicians are not trusted.
This is the second instance in a week that the people have spoken. The people of the city of Lafayette, Colorado voted in a similar change to their City charter by a large margin. Nice to see that the citizens are being responsible in handling the spending of their own taxes.

...Once confidence is lost, it can be difficult to restore it.

In the case of Italy, it has over $500 billion of maturing debt
to roll over in the next two years
and $800 billion through 2014.

Doing so at current near-7% yield levels
will deal a punishing blow to debt- service costs
and make it next to impossible to meet ...fiscal targets
...rendering this a classic Catch-22 situation.

The difference is Lamhen had $150 billion in bonds outstanding
while Italy has $2.5 trillion.

...unlike Greece, Italy is just too big to rescue.

And it can't print money to cover its debts
and has no ability to devalue its currency
to bolster competitiveness and export receipts.

The magnitude of the financing requirement is such
that Italy is going to have to hold bond auctions
just about every week for as long as the eye can see,
and the odds of having them fail are not trivial.

It is hard to believe that Italy
will ultimately escape a restructuring of its own.

...global policy makers this time around
have far fewer bullets in the chamber
to deal with the situation as they did in late-2008/early-2009.

The Germans ...have good reason to recall 1923
and everything that followed.

This is something that people outside of Germany
simply do not understand
— the scars are felt more deeply there
and they will not choose to monetize the debts.

Mayor Robbie Perkins Already Lying To The Public With Interview on News 2

HAT TIP NEWS 2 DIGTRIAD

Soon to be Mayor of Greensboro Robbie Perkins is already trying to manipulate the process by lying to the public in a interview with News 2  video embedded above. CLICKHERE to a link to the online report with a title"Greensboro Mayor Elect Robbie Perkins Talks About City's Future" In the online post this is what he is lying about :

"When it comes to the White Street landfill situation, Perkins said, "we ought to tell the manager to save us some money and come up with a way to help with solid waste that doesn't including opening White Street and look at regional solutions."
Perkins added High Point is five years away from being out of space and Winston-Salem is about 13 years. So he believes the area is prime for finding a solutino together."

As you can see we have Mayor Perkins trying to say to the public in this interview that High Point N.C. is 5 years away from being out of space when it comes to landfill capacity . It took one call to the High Point Public Services Assistant Director in Richard McMillan to make Mayor Perkins fact on High Point trash become a complete false statement because Richard McMillan stated to me that the High Point landfill has 3 other phases to go and the life of the landfill in High Point is over 25 plus years left.

These are the type of statements that if stated enough will become fact but are complete falsehoods by politicians like Mayor Perkins but we need a local media who will ask the tough questions or to do a little research into these statements to make sure they are correct. One call did it for this blogger and hopefully we will see a retraction of the mayors statement on talking about regionalism and other municipalities .

We are not even one week into this new era in Mayor Perkins of Greensboro and already he is lying to the public in this interview. This will be a fun 2 years if these are the statements coming out of the mayor's mouth.

John Mauldin on Europe: Listen up City of Greensboro and Guilford County

John Hammer on the Simkins PAC, Purchased Endorsements, and Greensboro's City Council Election results.

"...All eight candidates endorsed by the powerful
George C. Simkins Jr. Memorial Political Action Committee,
which is called the Simkins PAC, or just "the PAC,"
won on Tuesday night.

Two years ago seven of eight candidates
endorsed by The Rhinoceros Times won.

When you look at the vote totals
for the predominantly black precincts in east Greensboro
where the Simkins PAC endorsement letter is circulated,
it's hard to see how anyone endorsed by the Simkins PAC can lose.

...The Simkins PAC endorsed eight candidates for the City Council
and all eight won.

Didn't the Greensboro News & Record finish eight for nine,
only because they couldn't endorse TDBS?

Chairman of the Simkins PAC Steve Bowden,
...said the successful message of the Simkins PAC was,
"Stop the divisiveness."

Didn't Steve Bowden serve on three committees
including the taxpayer funded Greensboro Partnership
that gave money to the 1/4 cent tax increase initiative?

But it is hard to see how an all-black group
that endorses candidates who pay a fee for the endorsement
and sends its endorsements to voters
in predominantly black precincts is ending divisiveness.

How much did who pay the Rhino times for political advertising,
and how is that different from what the Simkins PAC did
relative to who gave the Rhino how much?

The Simkins PAC endorsement letter
was being handed out at polls in east Greensboro,
but once you crossed the imaginary line into west Greensboro
you didn't see anyone handing out Simkins PAC endorsement letters.

Bellamy-Small and Hardy: A comparison of endorsements from the Carolina Peacemaker, Yes Weekly and the GN&R

"Bellamy-Small, 59, also is an enigma who can be brooding,
distant and unresponsive.

Hardy, 35, ...takes similar positions as Bellamy-Small on most of the issues
but prefers addressing them with a more open, collaborative style.

...A finance manager by trade,
Hardy rightly suggests that such an approach
would benefit economic development in District 1,
which has traditionally lacked many of the amenities
that are givens in other parts of the city.

He says more young professionals like him and his wife
are consciously choosing to live in east Greensboro.

Bellamy-Small, on the other hand, is a study in contradictions.

She makes myriad public appearances
but at times can be nearly impossible to reach.

She is notorious for not returning telephone calls
and sometimes agrees to answer media questions only by faxes or email.

She initially filed to run for mayor before withdrawing
and filing to run instead for re-election in her district.

The only explanation she provided was in a letter to a local weekly,
the Carolina Peacemaker,
that spoke in vague generalities and left largely unclear
the reasoning behind her decision.

Attempts to reach her at the time for further explanation were fruitless;
neither of her two phone numbers had working voice mail.

Some constituents cite similar frustrations with reaching her,
and fellow council members of all political stripes
have at times found her off-putting and difficult."

Greensboro News & Record

T. Dianne Bellamy- Small - INCUMBENT
She has been a voice of reason on the council
amid a flurry of fellow council members
who have systematically ignored the concerns of hard working, t
ax-paying east Greensboro residents.

Bellamy-Small is unbossed and unbought
and that’s how we like our political leaders.

Carolina Peacemaker

"Bellamy-Small satisfies a number of our criteria for a council member,
she refuses to return our calls regardless of the subject
— an unacceptable practice for a public official,
and a dealbreaker when it comes to our endorsement.

Challenger Donnell "DJ" Hardy has big shoes to fill,
but we are confident that he will rise to the challenge.

We are attracted to a number of his economic ideas
that draw from what has worked for other cities
rather than betting everything
on attracting outside businesses through incentives,
which has led to mixed results.

Hardy is a team player but not at the cost of abandoning his district’s needs,
while Bellamy-Small approaches council as a lone ranger prepared for a battle.

Hardy may have some fights ahead of him as well,
but we expect he will attempt to find the middle ground
between other council members and propose forward-thinking solutions.

On the campaign trail, Hardy has repeatedly spoken of his aim
for an “urban renaissance” in Greensboro,
and his interest in supporting entrepreneurs
through a venture capital fund that would support 10 start-up businesses annually
out of which two would hopefully have staying power.

Hardy’s challenge is to be more transparent and communicative
than his predecessor."

The Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics Preamble

Sunday, November 6, 2011

The last time the local bloggers and press couldn't answer some simple questions, so the issues were ignored as the public went on uninformed of what is actually happening

What does Greensboro's electorate know about what is actually happening?

“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.”

Exodus 20:13

Do they know which Greensboro City Council members
fraudulently sold a $20 million swimming pool to the electorate
to put some of the 99%'s heads on the 1%'s beds down the street?

Do they know which Council members put renters more at risk
by transfering rental water and sewer liabilities from the 1% to the 99%
that will now cost Greensboro's taxpayers more than $500,000 per year?

The partisan, when engaged in a dispute,
cares nothing about the rights of the question,
but is anxious only to convince his hearers of his own assertions.

Plato

Does Greensboro electorate know which people they are voting for
eliminated proactive inspections on student rental properties?

If they can get you asking the wrong questions,
they don't have to worry about answers.

Thomas Pynchon

Do they know about the $50 million obligation
for unfunded retirement liabilities was just dropped in the city's lap
that no one seems to mention
as they make promises that cost more money?

If you choose not to know something,
especially if that something is something you should know,
you are morally blameworthy.

Robert P. Lawry
Director of the Center for Professional Ethics

Do they know Greensboro is sitting on a $300 million
pile of cash
that some City Council members want to spend
to make themselves a legacy with
with other people's money?

Were white northern college students enlisted for voter registration drives,
only after murders of black civil rights volunteers
went relatively unreported by law enforcement and news organizations?

Do they know they may be reelecting leadership
with the worst track record for bringing in new jobs
of any large city in North Carolina?

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it,
people will eventually come to believe it.

The lie can be maintained only for such time
as the State can shield the people
from the political, economic and/or military consequences.

Joseph Goebbels

Mayoral Candidate Robbie Perkins and Local Crony Capitalist Roy Carroll There is more to Discover

Bill O'Neill from WXII News Channel 12 did a segment on the candidates for Mayor of Greensboro. Here is a link to the video CLICKHERE . In the video at around the 1:12 mark, 1:24 mark and the 2:02 mark you will see Robbie Perkins working at his desk or work desk. Online it states that the company Robbie Perkins is a partner at is located at 101 west friendly avenue which is the Bank of America building but a closer look from the video clearly you can see from the office window that this office is located in the Center Point building owned by local crony capitalist Roy Carroll. At the 2:02 mark you can see the tower from the west market street united methodist church building which looks like it is across the street from the building Robbie Perkins is getting interviewed from.

Nobody wants to talk about this relationship between Robbie Perkins and local developer Roy Carroll than me and it is time this conflict gets more scrutiny because as we see in this video it looks like robbie perkins is lying about where his company is located because in video it looks like a office in Roy Carroll's building not at 101 west friendly avenue.

What George Hartzman almost finished saying to Guilford County's Commissioners Thursday night

Notable members of the 1/4-Cent Makes Sense Steering Committee include Patrick Danahy, President and Board Member of the taxpayer funded TREBIC MEMBER Greensboro Partnership, whose Action Greensboro gave the Bonds for Schools Committee $70,000, which also gave the Quarter Cent Tax Committee $10,500, whose Greensboro Economic Development Alliance board members include Linda Shaw and Nancy Vaughan who wanted City of Greensboro to fund 75% of a federal lobbyist to benefit Partnership members.

Robbie Perkins' $1.65 million pocket lining for the Agapions?

"Concerns about a proposed $1.65 million land purchase by the city
that might alter the neighborhood character
and line the pockets of the city's most notorious landlord
have stalled an ambitious development plan.

Doug Clark's Fekcud Up View of the World and Abner Doon's Response So Far

Our flagship state university will do this,
or else slip from the nation's elite.

Right now, it is undervaluing the higher education
and academic experience it offers.

It's got to start catching up.

Doug Clark

As the parent of a 17 and 14 year old
who is about to send them to college
and pay more for less,
I find your rhetoric offensive.

Fec - "some mind-warping logic" on Robbie Perkins and the White Street Landfill

"And here’s some mind-warping logic for you.

The social retards are up in arms
because Danish failed to recuse Perkins for being in cahoots
with one of the putative vendors.

Abner Doon, Danny Thompson, Robbie, Hoggard, Zack, Ed Cone, Spag, RUCO and Tyler Durden on The Question for Ed Cone: Did Robbie and Zack Stack the RUCO Board?

Ed Cone said...

By "pull a Danny Thompson,"
do you mean "accept 40% of his total campaign contributions
from the DH Griffin family,
while the family's business was up for the landfill contract?

'Cause I know you concern yourself greatly with that kind of stuff,
and your silence on this particular matter has been baffling.

Dear Ed Cone again:
Did Matheny and Perkins stack the RUCO Board?
Please answer the question Ed.

Ed Cone said...

I don't know what their intentions were, George.

I do know RUCO died in Raleigh,
and the Council under Mayor Knight didn't speak up loudly to save it.

Whether or not that would have made a difference I can't say,
but we don't have a two-person City Council.

Tell us what you think, or people will continue to ignore you.

Spag said...

"Tell us what you think, or people will continue to ignore you."

That's is too funny coming from Ed,
who when asked to explain himself
regarding something he has written
starts whining and dodges giving an answer by saying
"this isn't about me".

November 5, 2011 5:23 PM

Ed Cone is never going to write a blog post
that holds Perkins to the same standard
that he is holding Thompson and Rakestraw to.

Everyone with a brain knows that Robbie Perkins
has far more conflicts and is greased far more by people
who have a lot more business before the City Council
than Thompson or Rakestraw have.

Ed Cone['s]..., trick is to convince everyone else that he isn't biased
and is "just being reasonable".

The most effective advocates are the ones who can convince others
that they aren't advocating.

...media types know this and demonstrate it every day.

His post isn't really about the problem between donors and candidates
because if it was, he'd have far more harsh words for Perkins
instead of none at all.

That's just subterfuge for the real point of his post...

But being that honest would reveal the trick.

Robbie Perkins and Roy Carroll Texting During Council Meeting, Parody

ROBBIE PERKINS AND ROY CARROLL TEXT MESSAGING EACH OTHER

TRIADWATCH PARODY ABOVE

The above parody is fictitious but we all need to remember that we did have sitting council member Robbie Perkins text message to China local developer Roy Carroll during a council meeting  in regards to a issue with property off of horse pen creek road, texts are below . Rumor has it that Roy Carroll is going to bring up the 4 million dollars for water and sewer in January 2012  that has been tabled from the City of Greensboro agenda. Here is a link to that report titled "Pulled Agenda Item #31 Local Developer and Crony Capitalist Roy Carroll Wants $4,176,775 in Ecomonic Incentive Grant and Loan" CLICLHERE

Perkins Texts

The report below is from December of 2009

Above you will see the text messages from Greensboro City Council member Robbie Perkins to local developer Roy Carroll. During council meeting on December 15, 2009 it was discovered that Robbie Perkins was texting back and forth to Roy Carroll about a situation involving a court case which is totally a separate issue and a condemnation of Kotis properties to put in water and sewer to Roy Carroll's property off of horse pen creek road.

The first issue that needs to be addressed is should council members be text messaging during council meetings? The answer should be NO because the council members need to be concentrating on who is speaking to them and the case in front of them and not text messaging their friends or in Robbie Perkins case your TREBIC which stands for the Triad Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition buddy.

The second issue is to see if Greensboro City Council member Robbie Perkins is also Roy Carroll's leasing agent for this property off of horse pen creek road? If Yes ,then the councilman needs to recuse himself from yet another case that comes in front of the City of Greensboro. Here is a post from the past where both Robbie Perkins and Roy Carroll are tied together CLICKHERE on the center city pointe in downtown Greensboro.

To understand the above text messages in the first text message it talks about a person by the name of winfree, that happens to be Kotis Properties lawyer in Chick Winfree. The third text says that is has been tabled till January 5, 2010.In the fourth text it states that "Al" has been giving me the play by play. Al is probably, Al Leonard who is Vice President Carroll Commercial Construction Company and Carrolland Company. And the last text seems like Robbie Perkins saying to Roy Carroll to go toe to toe with Kotis Properties. The "Terry" in the last text is Greensboro City Attorney Terry Wood.

Ex-Greensboro City Manager Rashad Young Speaks with Alexandria Mayor William Euille

From youtube we have ex Greensboro City Manager Rashad Young speaking with his new boss in Alexandria Mayor William Euille during a government program called  "Mayor Euille Today". What a novel idea in having the mayor have his own public access program on local government.

If TREBIC endorsed the quarter cent tax increase, why wouldn't they endorse a restaurant tax?

“When government comes unduly under the influence of business,
the tendency is to develop an Administration
which closes the door of opportunity;
becomes narrow and selfish in its outlook and results in oligarchy
[but on the other hand] when government enters the field of business
with its great resources,
it has a tendency to extravagance and inefficiency,
but having power to crush all competitors,
likewise closed the door of opportunity and results in monopoly.”

US President. Calvin Coolidge, November 1925

If insanity is repetitively doing the same wrong thing, why should who vote for the folks that led us into this mess, hoping they can lead us out?

How did a taxpayer funded, 40 year, zero interest loan for the Bessemer Center get done?

City staff members said the loan is risky.

The city would be the second lien holder,
meaning the bank would get paid first if the project failed.

And if the city already has more than $1 million invested in the property
in redevelopment work done so far.

“It’s a hard-to-develop area,” City Manager Rashad Young said.

“Council has to make a decision
about what level of risk they are willing to accept to move forward.”
